Tornadoes are possible across central Alabama on Saturday and Saturday night.
A strong storm system will bring the possibility of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes to central Alabama from around noon Saturday till midnight Saturday night. Now is the time to prepare for the possibility of severe weather.
All modes of severe weather will be possible including tornadoes, damaging wind, hail, and localized flooding. Although isolated storms will be possible by 9am Saturday morning in West Alabama, the greatest risk will be noon to midnight. Breezy conditions can be expected ahead of the front Saturday and behind the cold front Sunday. Sustained winds between 10 - 20 MPH will be expected.
Talledega race forecast: It will be very difficult to get the Aaron’s 312 in tomorrow due to the rain and storms, but the weather will be fine for Sunday’s Aaron’s 499 with a partly sunny sky and a high around 80. Needless to say, there is great concern with a potential severe weather event of this magnitude ahead and the thousands of campers in place on the grounds around the Talladega Superspeedway. Everybody that is camping will need to be very aware of severe weather watches and warnings tomorrow, and have a plan of action in place in the event tornado warnings are issued for northern Talladega County.
