With heavy rain most of the day and dewpoints in the low 60's a major severe weather outbreak now seems unlikely. One last line of storms will pass through the area tonight, bringing heavy rain, lightning, and winds. But this should not go down in records books as a major severe weather outbreak.
I will caution everyone to not let their guard down. There have been significant storms in Mississippi and Louisiana today with damage reported. Strong storms have also affected the western counties in Alabama. Continue to stay aware of current weather warnings throughout the night. Severe thunderstorms with possible tornadoes are still possible....
But it looks like Central Alabama for the moment has dodged any significant dangerous weather situations today and our Weather forecasters once again are reminded how much is not understood about mother nature.
