Another Winter Storm? What is going on in the South...

...Confidence in a winter weather event across central Alabama the
beginning of the week continues to increase...
A cold upper level trough over the eastern United States and an
active southern jet stream continue to set the stage for another
winter weather event across central Alabama Sunday and Monday. A
surface low will form in the northern Gulf of Mexico...pulling
moisture northward and cold air southward as it tracks toward
northwest Florida. Confidence is increasing that central Alabama
will see a variety of wintry precipitation starting as early as
Sunday morning across southwest Alabama...spreading across all of
central Alabama during the day. The wintry mix is expected to last
through Monday night.
Although uncertainty exists with the exact path and strength of this
system...both snow and freezing rain are expected. Based on current
forecast information...the highest snowfall accumulation will be
north of Interstate 20...where one to two inches is possible.
Elsewhere...a dusting to one half inch is possible with ice
accumulation of less than one tenth inch. Any change in track and
strength could result in significant changes to precipitation type
and accumulation totals.
